SoulScript exists because I wanted something that didn’t exist.
I enjoy visual novels. I enjoy modding things. And for years, I kept wishing more VNs were fully voiced — not just the big-budget ones, but the small indie projects and mods too. Every time I looked into how to actually do that, the answer was always the same: expensive voice actors, complicated workflows, or cloud services I didn’t trust or couldn’t afford long-term.
So I tried to build the tool I wished I had.
I’m not a professional software engineer. I’m not a Ren’Py developer by trade. SoulScript wasn’t born out of a startup plan or a pitch deck — it came together because I kept asking, “Why is this still so hard?” and then kept pushing until it wasn’t.
What started as a personal experiment quickly turned into something real.
What SoulScript Is (and Isn’t)
SoulScript is a desktop application for generating voiceovers for Ren’Py visual novels, powered by modern text-to-speech models — entirely offline, on your own machine.
Initial setup downloads runtime components and models, but everyday use happens locally.
It’s designed to:
- make adding voices to a VN practical
- reduce friction and repetitive work
- let creators focus on storytelling instead of wiring audio files
It is not a cloud service.
It does not require a subscription.
Your scripts and audio never leave your computer.
I built it the way I wanted it to work — fast, local, and respectful of the creator.
Built With Community in Mind
One thing became clear very quickly: tools like this get better when people share.
That’s why SoulScript isn’t just an app — it’s also a community. The forum exists so users can:
share voice presets
exchange ideas
help shape where SoulScript goes next
I genuinely believe the best voices, workflows, and ideas won’t come from me alone — they’ll come from people actually making games and mods.
An Honest Note on Development
SoulScript is actively developed, but it’s also an indie project. That means:
features are added thoughtfully, not rushed
feedback matters more than hype
polish improves over time, not overnight
If something feels off, confusing, or limiting, I want to hear about it. Many of the current features exist because someone spoke up and said, “I wish it could do this.”
Why a One-Time Purchase?
I don’t like subscriptions for creative tools. I don’t like usage limits. And I don’t like the feeling that software might stop working if a server goes away.
SoulScript is a one-time purchase because:
you should own the tools you create with
updates should feel like progress, not a bill
trust matters more than squeezing every dollar
Major version upgrades will always be clearly communicated, and existing users will never be left behind.
If You’re Here…
If you’re a VN developer, a modder, or just someone who loves voiced storytelling — you’re in the right place.
If you’re curious but not ready to commit yet, SoulScript includes a built-in Demo Mode so you can explore the full workflow before purchasing.
SoulScript exists because someone wanted to make something better.
If you use it, improve it, or share it, you’re part of that story now too.
Thanks for being here.
